Hello GMC! This lesson is a rock solo that contains licks and melodies in the style of Zakk Wylde and RHCP One Hot Minute era. The backing track used is one that I recorded for one of Luciana's singing lessons. I was trying to do some singing improvisations and I created the first melody. Then I played it in guitars and I really liked followed by a rock improvisation in Minor Pentatonic in the style of Zakk Wylde.
I often compose my solos in this way. I find them more melodic and amazing to hear. For those that don’t know Zakk Wylde, he is a rock guitar player that plays in Ozzy’s band and in his own band called Black Label Society. One of his most used techniques is to play repetitive cross string licks over minor pentatonic scales and also double string licks. We will work on these techniques in this lesson.
The backing track is in D minor and has been recorded with an acoustic guitar using dropped D tuning.
